“Throughout the 7 years Mrs. Vincent has taught me she has been a source of encouragement and support. She has found the balance between making flute fun and challenging and making even the challenges enjoyable.”

--Amanda Rowell

Actively sought after as a teacher and coach, Laura Vincent has taught at many of the major community music schools in the greater Boston area including the Rivers Music School, the Brookline Music School and the Dana School of Music. Mrs. Vincent has also taught in the lesson program at Petaluma High School (CA)
and privately in Marin and Sonoma Counties (CA). Mrs. Vincent is strongly committed to music education for the young. She specializes in nurturing and building young performers by establishing a sound foundation in all musical skills. Mrs. Vincent also stresses the importance of developing listening skills such as discernment, critical thinking and the ability to intelligently articulate personal opinions.

She is an excellent diagnostician and designs and implements a comprehensive educational plan for each student. She effectively challenges her students to grow in their playing while balancing the stress and demands of her students' lives.

Mrs. Vincent’s students have successfully auditioned for local, district, state, regional and national competitions. In Boston, her students have been members of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony, the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, the Worcester Youth Symphony, the Senior and Junior Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensembles, New England Conservatory Youth Symphony, and nationally as members of the National Wind Ensemble and National Festival Orchestra based in NYC. In California, her students are members of the Santa Rosa Youth Symphonies and Winds Across the Bay (Richmond)

“Our son, Lindsey, has studied with Mrs. Vincent for five years. She is a thoughtful and well prepared teacher with great sensitivity to different learning styles. She has made an significant impact on his development as a flute player, and more importantly as a young man.”

“As a result of being a student of Laura Vincent, I have grown and changed in so many ways. Studying with her has been an amazing experience. She taught me to love music and to make music my own, to put my personality into what I play and to use music to express myself. I am a more confident player as a result of her teaching. She puts so much energy into my lessons. I never feel alone on anything- recitals or auditions. Mrs. Vincent pushes me to take risks and be more independent yet she still supports me all the time.”
