Laura Vincent is an innovative program designer and successful
arts administrator. She has organized and directed flute ensembles
for all levels of players in many educational settings including
Waltham High School, the Littleton Public Schools, the Dana School
of Music and the Rivers Music School.
While a faculty member at the Brookline Music School, she managed
the Harry and Marion Dubbs Young Artists Competition, a prestigious
and well-known youth competition. In 1996, this competition merged
with the Boston Symphony Orchestras Concerto Competition.
She created and administrated the chamber music program at the Rivers
Music School. Under her leadership this program grew to include
100 students participating in 2 dozen ensembles. It later became
a department at Rivers. Mrs. Vincent was the first Chair of the
Chamber Music Department for several years.
She designed and implemented a series of practice audition masterclasses
for area flute students at Rivers. The classes offer strategies
on how to successfully audition for local and regional competitions,
how to present oneself with poise and understanding the adjudication
process through the eyes of a judge. Mrs. Vincent organized several
studio workshops where her students performed informally for one
another. Not only did they learn how to improve their performance
skills, they learned how to offer and receive constructive criticism.

Mrs. Vincent has facilitated our daughter's positive
approach to audition
challenges and in the process, our daughter has grown
artistically with
confidence. Mrs. Vincent is an outstanding role model
and our daughter found
in her a mentor and friend.

Mrs. Vincent has assisted me in achieving
a number of my goals-being accepted to Jr. District, Jr. MYWE
and GBYSO. Her encouragement and guidance have helped me to
develop a passion for flute playing. She is one incredible
flute teacher!
